I've
been in the building trades since 1972 and I've seen more than
my share of poorly designed remodels. There seems to be a tendency
to design spaces from the viewpoint of how it will function instead
of how it flows with the original design of the space. Function
and flow are both equally important and need to be considered in
the final design, but how the new space reacts with existing elements
is equally important.
I'm
a Portland native and really love the Portland Bungalow and Craftsman
styles. My home was built in 1903. I really enjoy taking the
bad 70's modernizing out and bringing back the old world charm.
